BIOGRAPHY of Edwina K. Brady

Reaching out — to show you the world through my vision and feelings.

Edwina Brady is an accomplished artist and poet from the Southwest, who relocated to Boston, Massachusetts in 1988. Her artistic endeavors began in the 1970s when Edwina began painting in her native New Mexico. Utilizing various media — from acrylics to oil to pastels — Edwina portrays realism in her artwork with landscapes and depictions of animals, plant and flower life, and portraits. Her exceptional artwork has been exhibited in galleries and art shows in southeastern New Mexico, Washington and New England.

In 1973, Edwina added poetry to her repertoire of artistic expression when she began writing free-verse poetry as an outlet to her own emotions and feelings as a single working mother living in the small town of Artesia, NM. Her poetry delves into a broad range of emotions — from sorrow and pain to joy and elation. Many readers can connect with her poetry and find meaning in each missive to apply to their own lives.

Edwina's artistic expressions took a turn when she made an important transition with a move to New England in 1988 to start a new chapter in her life and re-evaluate her spirituality and beliefs. "My perceptions are colored by my experiences of love, life and death — by the changes I have encountered in my belief system," she says. "My beliefs are an amalgam of many ideologies. I take ideas and philosophies that resonate with me and incorporate them into my own belief system. I am in awe of the grandeur of the universe. To think that the source of `all that is' has placed a spark within each one of us — I want to show others the world that I now see."
